About Jazz Diggs
Jazz Diggs is an independent editorial journal dedicated to jazz and improvised music. We publish album reviews, artist features, interviews, historical essays, and cultural criticism for listeners who take the music seriously.
What We Cover
Our writers cover the full breadth of jazz — from bebop and hard bop to free jazz, fusion, contemporary improvisation, and everything in between. We believe the music's history and its present moment are equally worth exploring.
We review new releases with care, profile artists at all stages of their careers, and write deep histories of the clubs, cities, and scenes that shaped the music.
Our Approach
Jazz Diggs is reader-supported and editorially independent. We don't accept payment for coverage. Our writers bring their own enthusiasms and critical perspectives — we trust them to make the case for what they think matters, and to explain why.
We write for people who already love jazz and for people who are just finding their way in. Both audiences deserve serious, accessible writing that doesn't condescend.
The Team
Jazz Diggs is written by a small team of critics, journalists, and musicians. You can read more about each contributor on our Contributors page.
